Bring your group to MacHabitat!

McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity’s partners are critical to our mission as we create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership in Yamhill County. Team builds are an excellent way to engage your business, organization or personal circle in a meaningful group experience.

Every MacHabitat home costs more than $150,000 to build. Groups are asked to contribute a tax-deductible donation in support of their team-building experience.

By volunteering with MacHabitat, you will see the impact of your contribution and feel the satisfaction of knowing that impact will last for generations.

Thank you for helping to ensure that everyone in our community has a decent place to live!

* Opportunities are on a first-come, first-served basis and include working on new Home Construction, Home Repair, maintaining Aspire Park, and helping in our ReStore. Frequently Asked Questions

All Group Volunteer Experiences are limited to 8 individuals. If you have a larger group than 8, please contact us to determine IF we can accommodate more.

In general, we advise interested groups contact us between three weeks and three months prior to their desired team experience – particularly for New Home Construction, as we offer experiences based on our construction timeline. Additionally, we experience a high volume of requests for summer months. We require a minimum of three weeks’ notice prior to scheduling.

What to Expect
One goal is that everyone is SAFE and has FUN while they work! MacHabitat wants to provide a fulfilling experience and we believe the time you spend giving back will be rewarding in ways you never imagined. Your team will have the opportunity to build strong relationships while engaging in meaningful work for those in your community.

  • Schedule: The typical group experience day schedule is 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. including a break for snack and a break for lunch. If you are volunteering in the ReStore, the schedule and shifts will be determined with your MacHabitat relationship manager.
  • Waivers: All participants are required to complete a safety waiver prior to the experience day. Our team will provide the instructions and waivers no later than two weeks before your scheduled activity.
  • Photography: We encourage taking photos the day of your build! We will take a group photo of your team with the MacHabitat banner. If you would like to bring/hire a photographer, please note they are also required to complete the registration and waiver.
  • Weather: Oregon is not always sunny! We typically build rain or shine, but if weather conditions cause safety concerns, then your build day could be rescheduled. We try to provide as much advance notice as the weather allows, and contact volunteers via email.
  • Parking: We HIGHLY encourage carpooling. Street parking availability is limited – especially at our construction site. There is also a small lot for parking behind our construction break trailer. Detailed instructions will be provided when scheduling your build day.

What to Wear
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing they don’t mind getting dirty. Please do not wear garments that could easily get caught on objects or in power tools. For cooler months, please wear layered clothing for weather changes. Boots or sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required. For safety reasons, volunteers who do not show up in the proper attire will not be allowed on the build site.

What to Bring
Please leave your valuables at home as there is no secure storage at any of our sites. We have work aprons on site which can hold small wallets, keys and your cell phone, but you may also want to bring clothing with pockets. We provide all the safety equipment (hard hat, goggles, earplugs, gloves, etc.), however, many of these things are personal in size and design, so bring your own if you own them for comfort. We provide all the tools you’ll need — we ask that you do not bring your own tools or equipment on site.

We recommend all participants also bring sunblock, sunglasses, and a refillable water bottle. We have filtered water dispensers on site.

  • Habitat volunteers must be 14 years or older
  • 14- and 15-year-olds are limited to landscaping and painting activities and must be under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
  • 16- and 17-year-olds may work on all construction activities, except those that require using power tools, climbing on a ladder or scaffolding, or participating in other hazardous activities. They may also work at the ReStore.
  • Students led by a school group who are under 18 must have their parents or guardian’s signature on their waiver form.

Yes! We welcome those of all skill levels and provide all the training you’ll need! No prior construction experience is required. Though we do our best to accommodate all skill sets and abilities, please note construction is a physically demanding activity.

Start by completing the group interest form below. A MacHabitat staff member will then contact you with options based on availability and your preferences. For activities that require sponsorship, we will talk through partnership options.

Meals are not provided. We invite your team to bring food for snack and lunch breaks. For lunch, we ask all volunteers remain on site and many groups will cater lunch.

*If your team is seeking an elevated build day with meals included, please speak to your MacHabitat relationship manager. We offer coffee and donuts in the morning for $12/person, and a sandwich boxed lunch for $25/person.*

Teams contribute a tax-deductible donation to cover the equivalent cost of equipment, materials and training. More importantly, this support allows us to provide affordable housing opportunities for families and communities. Your team’s contribution is crucial in helping those in need. Builds are often sponsored by corporate giving, community fundraising, or fundraising through social media. MacHabitat staff can provide guidance in meeting your fundraising goals.

Sponsorships vary based on the group size and desired experience. Please complete the group interest form below and a relationship manager will contact you.
